SA Tourism Trailblazers

It gives me a great sense of pride seeing the youth in our community go through our traineeship program and grow. We’re playing a small part in helping set their lives on a positive path through employment.

SATC case study series – Tourism Trailblazers

In an industry that has been hit by the dual crises of the ‘black summer’ bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, operators across South Australia have innovated and adapted their businesses to create opportunities.

Tourism Trailblazers tells the stories of operators across the state who have taken a chance, done something different and are reaping the rewards.

Be inspired by passionate tourism operators who are reimagining their business strategies to not only survive but thrive, as we work together to recover our once $8.1 billion visitor economy.

BRIDGEPORT HOTEL was lucky enough to be involved in the case study conducted by the SATC.

Having opened its doors just 12 months ago amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bridgeport Hotel persevered through many challenges to become a drawcard for the Murray River, Lakes & Coorong.

To overcome national labour shortages, the Bridgeport Hotel looked to the local community and created a traineeship program with TAFE SA to hire local youth – offering an employment pathway and career development while fostering staff loyalty and enthusiasm.
