Murray River Glows an exciting community-focused event presented by the Rural City of Murray Bridge, at Wharf Hill Reserve from June 15th to 18th, as we come together to commemorate resilience and unity.
This special occasion combines the deferred New Year’s Eve Fireworks and an illuminating lighting concept proposed by Alec from Smartalec Lighting.
Thursday kicks off with Augmented Reality Art Walks, the stunning murals created by talented artists Harley (Ngrakani) Hall, Shane (Mankitya) Cook, Morris Green and Mike Makaton have been brought to life with mesmerising animations by the talented Luku Kuku of Polymorphic.
The Bridgeport Hotel is offering free facepainting in The Lounge from 5pm Thursday 15th, along with River Views of the Light show.
Friday in Edwards Square from 10am Sophie Thomson from Sophie’s Patch and Gardening Australia leads the workshop REGROWTH: Garden recovery after Flood. Along with additional smaller wellbeing activities and displays throughout the day.
Saturday will see the fireworks display in the evening – best views from our Riverside Balcony Suites!
The purpose of “Murray River Glows” is to recognize and celebrate the unwavering strength and courage of the Murray Bridge community in the face of rising waters, fostering a sense of togetherness. Mayor Wayne Thorley expressed his excitement, stating, “We’re delighted to bring forth this event following the disappointment of deferring our New Year’s Eve celebration. We’ve curated an amazing experience, featuring a mesmerizing lighting display and fireworks show on Saturday evening, June 17th. We invite the community to come out and enjoy the festivities.”
This family-friendly event will be held at Wharf Hill, opposite the Bridgeport Hotel.
Expect food vans offering delicious treats, an enchanting interactive lighting display around the rose garden near the rotunda on Wharf Hill, and uplifting music.
